Hello folks, hope your well! I’m finally recovering from a viral infection and migrane last week just typical when it was half term the kids are too noisy!!
I was going through my stash of patterns earlier on in the week before I was poorly and came across The Kimono Wrap Dress pattern from Simple Sew and thought why haven’t I sewn this up earlier?!
I’d received this lovely Hawaiian Hibiscus Chiffon from Tia Knight Fabrics and it’s just beautiful!!! It has a real nice soft feel to it and drapes perfectly which I thought would be perfect for this dress!
Also is thought with it being miserable weather last week, sewing such a pretty summer dress would coax the sunshine to return hahaha! Love it when a plan comes together!!
Now this was a very quick make indeed it was only 3 pattern pieces but I did shorten the length of the dress by 2 inches on the pattern before cutting out the size 10 as i am a short person and I opted to make the extended belt version as it does make a pretty bow 😁
All you had to do was neaten the raw edges and then sew the front and back pieces together then to hem the rest of the dress and make the belt very easy make this would make a great beginner dress as it doesn’t involve any darts or zips!
Now with it being chiffon I decided to give my new rolled hem foot a go as I felt the dress needed the smallest hem possible and I’m really glad I did as it has finished the dress off perfectly! So if you haven’t dared to buy or use it then take the plunge as it really does give a lovely tiny hem!
It definitely needs a little press stud to keep your modesty in check, to be on the safe side as I don’t want any flashing incidents! Hahaha!
Here is moi modelling the beauty of a dress!
Myself and the hubby had celebrated our 10 year wedding anniversary om Friday just gone so we decided to have a family weekend away in Lincoln 😀
It was lovely to go to the Castle and see the poppies that were down in London
Again a big thank you to Tia Knight Fabrics for kindly sponsoring me this lush fabric it’s a steal at £4.99 a metre and it’s 61 inches wide too win win in my book!! Also if you want to make your own kimono wrap dress then you buy the pattern directly from Simple Sew here.
Happy Sewing!!
Sal xx
